Isabel of Conches

Isabel of Conches, wife of Ralph of Tosny, rode armed like a knight during a conflict in northern France during the late 12th century.

Orderic Vitalis described Isabel of Conches, daughter of Simon de Montfort, as brave as "several Amazons and the legendary Camilla, who fought as ally of the Italian king Turnus in the Aeneid."
